Houston Nonprofit Awards Two Scholarships at 2nd Annual Giveback Kickback
Expanding Opportunities for Houston Youth Through Scholarships, Mentorship, and Community Support
When donors search for Texas nonprofits to support, they often look for organizations that demonstrate measurable impact, innovative programming, and a genuine commitment to serving their communities. At this year's 2nd Annual Giveback Kickback, Bridge The Gaps proudly demonstrated all three.
The Houston-based youth nonprofit recently hosted its annual fundraising event, bringing together community leaders, corporate sponsors, volunteers, and supporters committed to investing in the next generation. The evening celebrated not only the power of community partnerships but also the life-changing opportunities that donor support makes possible.
Two Scholarships Awarded to Outstanding Young Women
One of the highlights of the evening was the awarding of two scholarships to two deserving young women pursuing their educational goals.
The scholarships represented a meaningful milestone for Bridge The Gaps. While the organization is often recognized for its work supporting student-athletes and youth involved in traditionally male-dominated sports programs, this year's recipients reflect the organization's broader mission of serving the entire Houston community.
The decision underscores Bridge The Gaps' commitment to ensuring that opportunities are available to all young people, regardless of gender, background, or circumstances.
Bridge The Gaps awarded scholarships to applicants Shiliane Kent and Celeste Rodriguez! We extend our sincere congratulations to both young women as they continue their educational journeys!
More Than 15 Applicants Competed for Scholarships
The 2026 scholarship program attracted more than 15 applicants from across the Houston area.
In an effort to remove barriers and encourage authentic storytelling, Bridge The Gaps introduced a nontraditional scholarship application process. Rather than requiring lengthy essays, students were invited to submit personal video presentations sharing their experiences, aspirations, challenges, and future goals.
The innovative approach allowed applicants to present themselves in their own voices and provided scholarship reviewers with a deeper understanding of each student's journey.
For many donors interested in supporting youth development programs, this type of innovation demonstrates how modern nonprofits can better connect with and serve today's students.
Why Donor Support Matters
The success of the Giveback Kickback would not have been possible without the generosity of sponsors, community partners, donors, and volunteers.
Every ticket purchased, sponsorship secured, and donation received helps Bridge The Gaps continue providing programs that support Houston youth through:
Educational enrichment opportunities
Scholarship funding
Financial literacy workshops
Mentorship and leadership development
Community service initiatives
Athletic and personal development programs
College and career readiness resources
These initiatives are designed to help students build confidence, develop life skills, and create pathways toward long-term success.
Looking for a Houston Nonprofit to Support?
Many donors today want to know exactly how their contributions are being used and whether their support creates meaningful change.
Bridge The Gaps is committed to creating measurable impact by investing directly into young people through scholarships, educational programming, mentorship, and community engagement opportunities.
Through programs such as the Youth Economic Readiness Initiative, Real Talk 4 Real Life, Families First, Play 4 Purpose, and its annual Thanksgiving Meal Drive, the organization continues to address critical needs facing Houston youth and their families.
By supporting Bridge The Gaps, donors help create opportunities that extend far beyond a single event or scholarship award. They become part of a larger mission focused on empowering young people to reach their full potential.
The Giveback Kickback Returns in 2027
Following another successful year, Bridge The Gaps plans to continue the Giveback Kickback as an annual event that brings together supporters who believe in strengthening communities through youth investment.
The organization is already looking ahead to the 2027 Giveback Kickback and expanding opportunities for students throughout Houston and surrounding communities.
Individuals, families, businesses, and corporate partners interested in supporting Houston youth are encouraged to subscribe to Bridge The Gaps updates and stay connected for future scholarship announcements, volunteer opportunities, sponsorship programs, and community initiatives.
