A SISD Super Visit

Connecting With Spring ISD

SPRING, TX - Bridge The Gaps, a registered non-profit 501(3)(c) organization is excited to announce our continued partnership with Dekaney High School Boys and Girls Golf program. This year, we had a special visit from Spring Independent School District Superintendant, Dr. Lupita Hinojosa!

Dekaney Golf Initiative

“We were very excited to have Dr. Hinojosa come out and learn about our partnership and how we have been instrumental in the success of the program! It was a true pleasure to chat with Dr. Hinojosa about our involvement and how Bridge The Gaps was a pivotal partner in the initiation and training of the golf team and continues to be a huge supporter and advocate for Dekaney golf," mentions Omar Durham, Founder, and CEO of Bridge The Gaps.

Durham continues, “This visit is a great stride forward for Bridge The Gaps involvement and our ability to help our local community public schools”.

Teen Mentorship

With programs such as the golf initiative, Bridge The Gaps is able to provide expert training from PGA Touring Professional, Steve Williams, provide unfunded resources such as golf equipment, and incentivize students with a new sport. This opportunity encourages them to maintain their grades and even consider education after high school.

“The initiative has been a huge contributor to continued education, classroom behavior, improved grades, and youth development for many students who strongly felt high school was their last educational opportunity,” Durham adds.

New Opportunities For Students

The golf program at Dekaney High School was also a program that was not traditionally offered nor had any funding, limiting students to only well-funded competitive athletic programs. In partnership with the Dekaney Golf coaching staff and Bridge The Gaps, the golf program has been in place for multiple years now, with an increased number of student golfers joining the team each year.
